Following on from last week’s announcement of the Urbanista Phoenix earbuds that use Powefoyle light-sensitive film to recharge their built-in batteries, sporting brand adidas and Zound Industries have announced the brand-new RPT-02 SOL headphones. These are the first pair of wireless Bluetooth headphones from adidas to feature a solar charging panel.

The new adidas RPT-02 SOL headphones are made using recycled plastics and feature innovative technology that converts any light source into electrical power. Developed in conjunction with Stockholm-based Zound Industries, the RPT-02 SOL wireless headphones are the latest model in the adidas headphone range that are self-charging. These sports headphones are designed to resist the rough and tumble of almost any sporting activity and lifestyle.

The adidas RPT-02 SOL have a headband made with a groundbreaking light cell material called Powerfoyle. The headband harvests energy from both natural and artificial light sources, providing the headphones with endless playtime and the ability to recharge on the go without the use of cables. Users can rely on light to level up their performance.

New and notable features of the adidas RPT-02 SOL include controls that enable the user to control the volume level and skip tracks easily. The headphones are also equipped with a light indicator on the headband that helps to detect the strongest light possible for the best charge.

By using the adidas headphone app, users can track the charge of the headphones and battery status in real-time. The design is sweat-proof and splash-proof to an IPX4 rating, making them ideal for withstanding the sweat created by a vigorous workout.
