Galaxy Buds 2 Pro are Samsung's flagship earbuds that compete with Google Pixel Buds Pro. Here’s what users should know about their wireless charging.

At the Galaxy Unpacked event conducted earlier this month, Samsung released its flagship TWS earbuds called the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, but do they feature wireless charging? The Galaxy Buds 2 Pro were announced alongside other products from Samsung, including the Galaxy Z Flip 4 & Fold 4 and the Galaxy Watch 5 & Watch 5 Pro. While the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro are the successor to the Galaxy Buds Pro, they compete directly with the Apple AirPods Pro.

The Galaxy Buds 2 Pro specifically target Android users, offering the best-in-class features such as active noise cancellation, 360-degree audio, and a transparency mode. In addition, Samsung has equipped the device with a dual-driver design, Bluetooth v5.3, active noise cancellation, IPX7 water resistance rating and many sensors, including an accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor, hall sensor and more.

As mentioned in an official infographic released by Samsung, the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro support Qi-certified wireless charging. The charging case of the Buds 2 Pro has a wireless charging coil capable of receiving power. Users do not always have to plug in a Type-C cable to charge the device. They can leave it over a wireless charging pad for some time, and they are good to go. Additionally, suppose someone has recently purchased one of the Samsung flagships or any other smartphone that supports reverse wireless charging. In that case, the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro can also draw power from the smartphone. The Google Pixel Buds Pro, Galaxy Buds Pro and AirPods Pro also support wireless charging.

The Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro pack a 515 mAh battery in the charging case and a 61 mAh battery in the individual earbuds. With active noise cancellation enabled, the device offers up to five hours of battery life and another 18 hours with the charging case. Although Samsung does not provide the exact time it takes to charge the earbuds, users may expect about an hour with wired charging and slightly over an hour with wireless charging, as that is the standard for most flagship TWS earbuds out there.

Just like USB-C is a standard port design that is found on all the new Android smartphones and even the premium Apple iPads, Qi is a standard for wireless charging set by the Wireless Power Consortium. Qi wireless charging standard ensures that the wireless charging equipment is the same across all the devices that comply, giving smartphone and accessories manufacturers a template. In addition, Qi-certified products are designed to prevent overheating and overloading. Hence, users can charge their Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro without worry.
